1. How do I run a simulation?
Each Instructor’s Book contains detailed directions for preparing participants or students in advance, organizing the logistical details, creating teams, and facilitating one of CulturesCrossing’s simulations.
2. How many participants or students do I need to run a simulation?
You can have as few as six or as many as 60-70. The author has run simulations with over 300 students and with as few as seven. Each individual role-play packet can be ordered by the student via PayPal for the cost of $15.00. The simulations are flexible enough so that you need not have perfect numbers as suggested in the simulations’ directions.
3. Are background research and readings required?
For three of the simulations — Olin Life in China, Annamay in Mexico, and Jeneryn in India— an instructor can use the materials as self-contained exercises. In the new 2022 simulation — Weighing the Ethics of Outsourcing — the role-play packets contain multiple websites for students to access and read through. Many instructors have assigned additional reading or research prior to the actual simulation. All the CulturesCrossing simulations contain extensive bibliographies.
4. How much time does it take to run a simulation?
We recommend that students buy their role-play packets at least two weeks before the actual simulation. Students and participants need that time to read and digest their information and instructions.
The actual simulation should be run on a single day, or two-three consecutive days, with a minimum of 3-6 hours allotted for the full exercise to take place.

6. I am still unsure. Can I talk with the author or other professors who have used these simulations?
